Woodenware Ranges

"The journey of our woodenware"

It all starts with nature creating the raw material required to make the best bowls. Every timber used is hand selecting from locally sources, storm fallen or felled trees.

The finished design is often decided at the start when breaking the raw material up. The process begins by cutting the tree into the raw block blanks while always considering the grain orientation, colour, features and species of the tree. The wet timber banks are then sculpted and turned into a bowl blank. This is where the bowls shape is decided. It's turned to a perfect and consistent thickness so that it dries evenly preventing process defects such as cracking. The bowl blanks are then sealed and stacked to air dry for over 12months to bring its moisture to a stable level. Once stable the bowl blacks are remounted to the lathe turned once more to turn it to its final dimensions and design. After sanding they are then hand finished with several coats of oil to bring out the colours and grain while giving a natural tactile sheen.

The Essential range is a simple yet elegantly shaped range that captures the woods grain and colour - no matter the species. These tend to have simple shapes and grain pattern.

The Character Range is an expression of 'the character within the timber'. These bowls vary in style and shape to capture the wonderful beauty within nature herself. These tend to be more challenging cuts of timbers such as Burls, Crotches, Quilted and Spalted.

The Exotic range is made up from imported and sometimes rare species of timber. the Exotic range take inspiration from mid century and Shaker movements capturing the woods grain and colour.
